A firsthand look at student experiences
Each semester we assemble a new group of Student Bloggers to showcase their study abroad adventures in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
These students, representing a range of universities and academic interests, bring you along as they document life in Scandinavia. Through blogs, lists, and photo essays, they capture it all—from everyday scenes to Study Tour highlights—offering an up-close view of their journey from start to finish.

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a DIS Stockholm student looks like? 📆
For Asea (@pomonaidpo), a typical weekday means class and studying at the DIS building, volleyball with the Stockholm Students’ Sports Club, commuting home, dinner with flatmates in her housing site’s shared kitchen, and some solo bass guitar practice to end the evening.

Scandinavian fall is coming to a close, and we’re not quite ready to say goodbye 🍁🍂
Our students experienced a wonderful autumn in Stockholm — from seeing the Northern Lights and exploring the archipelago to outdoor Field Studies and restful nights in (höstmys, Swedish for ‘autumn cozy’).
Captured by our Student Media Team: Bertha (@vassarcollege), Rayna (@northwesternabroad), Joseph (@pomonaidpo), and Melia (@smith_college_ois).

For many students, living in a Homestay is a true highlight of their time abroad. 🏡🇸🇪
Meet Lily (@macalestercollege), Xavier (@wesstudyabroad), and Zane (@uarkansas)! Each had their own unique experience living with Homestay hosts and came away from their semester with lifelong connections to Sweden.
From experiencing local traditions like mushroom foraging and national holidays, to exploring the city, playing sports, and sharing great conversations over dinner — each can attest that it’s an enriching and immersive way to get to know Sweden.

Curious about the Wellbeing Living & Learning Community at DIS Stockholm? Hear from facilitator Weini and current students about their experience! 🌞
From yoga and breathwork to arts workshops, cold dips, and nature hikes, students in the Wellbeing LLC explore what wellbeing means — physically, mentally, and socially.
If you’re interested in building community and learning how to bring balance into daily life abroad, this housing option might just be an ideal fit!

For Maren (@bowdoincollege), living in a Homestay introduced her to a daily ritual she didn’t expect: cold-water swimming just steps from her home away from home on the Baltic Sea.
What began as a way to get to know her host quickly became a grounding routine — a way to reset and navigate the ups and downs of studying abroad, all while feeling more connected to Danish culture.
🌊 Swipe to see Maren’s moments by the sea.

Get to know our Living & Learning Communities🌟
At DIS Stockholm, the Meet the City LLC is all about living like a local. Earlier this semester, the group learned to cook Swedish meatballs the authentic way.
Throughout the semester, they dive into cultural experiences like museum visits, concerts, neighborhood walks, thrift tours, and more – discovering Stockholm with the guidance of a local.
