Advisor summit

The DIS North American Office invites front-line education abroad advisors from DIS Partner Institutions to spend two days with our team in Minnesota, diving deep into DIS admissions, registration, advising, preparation, and student support.

This professional development opportunity is a great way to connect with DIS, strengthen your advising, and build your professional network through cohort-based learning alongside DIS colleagues.

Overall, such a wonderful opportunity to learn more about DIS. The staff were amazing and so welcoming. The information was thorough and very informative. We had good opportunities to connect with each other and learn from one another. And it was nice to have this opportunity to learn so much about DIS in such a short amount of time…not once did I feel overwhelmed. Thank you!

Advisor Summit learning objectives

  1. Provide interactive training on DIS advising, admissions, registration, and student preparation.
  2. Strengthen connections between DIS North American staff and our closest collaborators on campus, learn from one another, and discuss shared challenges and opportunities.
  3. Solicit feedback about the DIS communications, platforms, tools, and resources available to partners, your colleagues, and your students.

Participants will be asked to complete ~2 hours of ‘homework’ ahead of the summit, including completing our student pre-departure online course. Our focus is on nuts and bolts advising tools. For a broad overview of DIS programming and strategy, join an International Educators Workshop. Many advisors have found it highly worthwhile to attend the Advisor Summit before or after an IEW.
